According to organizers, the Hospice and JV Mall are co-sponsoring the free event, which is to be hosted by Tom Furci, mid-day host at WHUD FM.
While the event is free, those in attendance will have the opportunity to purchase an ornamental dove for inclusion on the Tree of Life, which will remain in place through the Christmas season, according to organizers.
At a cost of $25, each dove is to serve as a symbol of a “loved one no longer with us,” according to organizers, who said that money raised by the Tree of Life will support the Hospice’s health care services.
Attendees at Friday’s event also will hear a “special presentation” from the Visiting Nurses Association of Hudson Valley and musical performances by Taghkanic Chorale of Yorktown, organizers said.
The Tree of Life kickoff event is to run from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Valley Mall north entrance, 650 Lee Boulevard. Organizers said a tree lighting ceremony will be featured as well.
